I'll get things started by telling you about our busy and mostly exciting Tuesday!

We were supposed to go to preschool, but got a call that one of the teachers was sick and there was no replacement, so class was cancelled. I was disappointed by that for a few minutes, then I realised it would give me more time to get ready for our afternoon road trip to see a kids' stage show. I did a bit of cleaning, made sure our footwear was dry from the previous day's splashing in puddles (fun for the boys and I get a kick out of their enjoyment even if it means my pants and shoes might also get wet) and then we walked to the post office before making a stop at the elementary school for playgroup.

We had an early lunch after playgroup, then I cleaned the kitchen up so I'd leave a clean house for Hubby's return from work while we were gone. We gathered our things to put in the car and actually made it out of the house quicker than expected. It also didn't take long to fill up the car and grab some cash in case they'd be selling souvenirs at the show.

The roads were great for the end of January, dry in most places with some sections wet but not slushy. I think it took us less than the hour I found on one of the online map sites, so instead of going directly for a parking spot, we stopped at the mall for some window-shopping for the boys (in a toy section) and the purchase of a few necessities for me. Then we headed up to the theatre and I was extremely fortunate that I didn't get a parking ticket when I couldn't find a spot with a parking metre. We were a couple blocks away but the walk went well even with a toddler who hates holding my hand for long...

The boys had books and toys to keep them occupied once we grabbed our tickets and found our seats, so the wait for the beginning of the show was pretty good. I spotted a few familiar faces from our area, so we weren't the only ones to be glad for good road conditions.

Tim laughed a lot, danced some and was totally captivated by the show (The Backyardigans Live). Ben's very first stuffy was the bird from the TV show, so he was holding that up and kept pointing out that Pablo was also on stage. He didn't really laugh at the story or songs, but his face sure lit up most of the time. There was a 20-minute intermission after about 35 mins, then about the same amount of show once they came back. Probably just right for young kids!

I bought Tim an overpriced stuffy before we left so he'd also have one of the characters. Then we shared a fast-food supper and drove the long way home (about 20 mins more than the way there) so we'd be on the well-traveled road at night. Again, the roads were just wet in places, no ice or snow. Whew!

A long day, but so much fun for the boys and that made me really happy despite more driving than I'm used to and less time at home with Hubby.

We're having a quieter day so far after yesterday's packed agenda. Just breakfast, baths and a bit of snow shoveling for me while the boys watched the second Cars movie. (They declined to come out, but I'll get them some fresh air later.) Otherwise I've been at the computer, tsk tsk. Making up for lost time yesterday? ;)

I should get some laundry started and maybe the boys will let me start reading the Beedle the Bard book? We shall see. Should get the rest of the week's meal plan done at some point. For supper today, I'm doing honey marinated chicken and will probably make rice and salad to go with it.

I'm glad the visit was a good one. Kids are fun but take so much energy!

We're still figuring out a new routine for the year and we've been busy with appts and such. Gotta take the kitty to the vet twice this month and the boys could use a good checkup with the local doc to make up for being rushed with the pediatrician...

Yesterday was a bit laid-back and I'm feeling like that would be a good thing for today as well if I can swing it! When's the weekend coming? ;)

We've done fairly well in the boys' room with just a shade to darken the room, but I'd like to put a curtain rod up again, maybe get them Spidey curtains or something. I have a couple navy blue panels I could move to my room, which also needs a curtain rod...

Hope you found cute cards! I got ones for school when I needed change at the mall - went into the dollar store and found 12 Cars cards (and one for teacher) for $1!

Hi, Melissa!

I think there's a good chance I'll get requests for Backyardigans episodes on Netflix. :) There are a lot of decent shows for them to choose from.

*Yawn* Off for a Sunday morning nap soon. Yep, I'm spoiled on weekends!
