February Roll Call!

Continuing on through the first quarter of 2013, it's the month that brings us groundhogs and love!

(Together perhaps? I wonder if anyone out there has done groundhog Valentine's cards or decorations for the holiday. Hee hee.)

Are you looking forward to anything this month? Any plans for the 14th or the weekend right after? Do you have a favourite treat you'll make or buy to celebrate?

Becca here from Western Canada. I can't help myself with the Groundhog Day tradition and must check out what all the Canadian animals have to say, even if the weather doesn't go along with the forecast. (I think we have one prairie dog and two groundhogs on the job.) I need to watch a certain Bill Murray movie every couple years too, just for a fun thing on that day.

I'm not sure what we'll do for Valentine's this year. Usually we get takeout for supper and watch a chick flick in the evening. ;) Sometimes we'll see a matinee close to the 14th, depends if there's anything decent at our theatre.

I'm really hoping to get across my request for no chocolate for the holiday! I got some for Christmas even though it's not good for me (milk and sugar to avoid, and that's almost all that's in the milk chocolate treats I prefer). I'd like to make shortbread cookies and use a heart-shaped cutter, sounds like the perfect treat to me. :) Maybe toast cut out with the larger heart cutter as well. The boys might find that funny.

The only other thing we already have planned for February: a three-day weekend for Hubby because ofFamily Day (11th). This is new and happens on a different day for other parts of the country. Tim also has the Friday off (8th) so we'll get in a visit with my parents to kick off his four-day weekend, then enjoy our time with Hubby for the rest of the days. :)

I'm not really into Groundhogs day.  I actually completely forgot that was today.  For Valentines Day, we will probably actually go to a movie in the morning, then out to lunch.  We do our dates while the kiddos are in school since dh works the night shift.  :)

The only traditions I have for Valentines Day is that I make pink, heart shaped pancakes for the kiddos.  I will get them each a little box of chocolates and a marshmallow pop.  As for dh, I'm not sure what I am going to get for him.  I'm thinking of getting him a massage gift certificate, but I'm not sure I will have enough money.  Embarassed

Karyn

My mom's birthday is the 28th.

Forgot about groundhog's day.

Will just bake a strawberry type cake for Valentine's Day and eat dinner at home...won't do gifts.

I had some troubles posting yesterday, so I'll try a single reply here.

Cindy - Your Valentine's Day plans sound great! We have a long weekend preceding the day, so maybe we can have daytime fun then and then evening plans for the 14th.

Ruth - I hope it's a good month for you and that you have fun getting ready for the trip to Michigan! I once had a pen pal from that state. :) (Plus two in France, one in England and for a short time, there was a gal in Guadalupe!)

Karyn - The cake is a great idea! :)

Hi! Brenda in Northern California.

On Groundhog's Day, I was on the treadmill, and I watched part of the movie "Groundhog Day", which is one of our favorites. :)

On Valentine's Day, I have AWANA, so we won't do much. I will give the kids small things, usually a little box of heart chocolates. I am baking cookies for the Awana Cubbies kids (3 and 4 year olds).

No birthdays in my immediate family. I am hoping the weather is sunny off and on this month, we are luckily not in any big winter storms!!

That would be a great way to keep yourself entertained while exercising. :) Hope the kids enjoy their gifts and the Cubbies have fun eating yummy cookies. (I love that name for that age group, very cute!)
