Melissa, that's so great about your job.

Kudos to you for going where the rewarding work is instead of the $

Hey Girls....I have been enjoying reading what everyone has been up to.  Many of you have been quite busy lately.  I am sending out tons of energy and happy prayers to ALL of you!!!!

I think I mentioned that I luckily got a summer school driving spot this year - again I was told that since I was new it would probably not happen since they go by seniority and those that drove last year get first pick.  Well my area only needed 6 drivers so I lost out.  I had a friend tell her boss that I was interested in doing special needs since she drives for that area.  My county has 5 areas plus special needs.  The Special needs area called my office to ask if they would recommend anyone and they forwarded my name and told them that I would be wonderful.  So great that they have so much faith and confidence in me in such a short time.  (My year end eval went very well.  My boss had said that I was the best first year driver he had ever had employed.)  This other area called my office the week before July 4th and asked if they had anyone still looking and they gave them my name - so I got called and hired by them.  Well summer school started July 9, goes for 5 weeks and ends next Thursday.

Last week one of the kindergarten kids gave me a box of milk in the afternoon - he said he got it for me for breakfast.  I tried to get him to keep it with no luck.  This afternoon, a first grader gave me a small packet of carrots she said she brought from home for me to have as lunch.  I also had a pre-K tell me today that he wanted to buy me something at school but his mom forgot to give him some extra money.  I told him thank you for the thought and he could just draw me a picture to hang on my bus.  I would love that more than him giving me food he bought with money.  Even with the unruly ones that can't follow the safety rules(stand up all the time, stick their arms and hands out the windows, climb under seats), these are the little moments that melt my heart.  In an unappreciated position, these are the reasons why I continue to turn down those lab positions and supervisor jobs where I could make much more money.  I really need the extra money but I LOVE this new career path.  I wonder if me giving each kid a pack of pencils the first week of summer school helped any?

I hope you get to the library! It's always nice to have a stack of books to look forward to reading. :smileyhappy:

We're off to the lake near my hometown today, to visit Hubby's parents and his brother who's here for a week. I'll bring along one of the Princess Diaries books, just in case there are a few minutes to read.

Somebody forgot to tell JJ that I turned off my 6:30 alarm for today.  He was awake and woke me at exactly 6:30.  Silly little man.  I'm not sure what I will be doing today.  I have some chores to get done, need to get a birthday card for sil, speech therapy at 10:45, and would like to get to the library at some point.  It all depends on if dh works overtime or not.  I don't like taking JJ to the library.  :smileysurprised:

Julia's first day of school is September 6th. JJ's open house for preschool is that morning also. I then have my parents meeting there that night. His real first day is the following Tuesday.

Wow, that is a ton of kids! I was in the nursery on the toddler side. I only had three boys in there. But when it was time for diapers to be done on the infant side, I had to bring the boys over there to and do all of the diapers. The other adult "helper" on that side never does diapers. It is aggravating. Especially when I didn't work with her and JJ would come home with a soaked diaper.
