What are your holiday traditions?

Thanksgiving at my home is a huge family gathering; one of our traditions is to share what we are thankful for that year. A few years back, my grandson said he wished he could have heard some of our past thoughts and a new tradition was born! Now the Thanksgiving Day table is covered with a white tablecloth where everyone writes out their thankful message for the year in permanent marker and we take turns reading the new ones and the ones from years past. While it may lack a bit in elegance, the feeling of really seeing all we have to be thankful for from year to year has a deeper, more lasting impact.

What holiday traditions or rituals have you created for your family?

I love the tablecloth idea! Maybe we'll start a jar or box of Thanksgiving messages in our house!

I love the tablecloth idea! I wish I could do that, but we go to different houses every year.

That's one reason to do a jar or box that I hadn't thought of right away... You could bring it to family dinners at other houses!

That's definitely a great idea! A traveling Thanksgiving box or jar... and I bet the kids could have a blast decorating it, too!
