"Going green" is a concept we're all familiar with. With Earth Day coming up next month, we'd love to know... what is that one "bad" habit you wish you could change?

Okay, here's something: I prefer to buy my soft drinks in small bottles. It costs a bit more that way rather than grabbing a larger one (2L here) and I'm assuming there's more plastic in multiple small bottles. I don't want to have more of these drinks around the house, so I just buy here and there when the craving hits (usually once a month).

We also buy bottled water rather than all using reusable bottles. I bought the boys Sigg bottles recently (Hot Wheels!) and I think there's one or two similar material bottles in the cupboard, but Hubby seems to prefer the bottles even when he's at home and could use tap water. Since the bottles are there, I'll occasionally grab one instead of going to the tap with a cup, tsk tsk.

I suppose I don't usually feel too bad about these two habits since we have curbside recycling here, so I recycle everything I can. I still could be doing more, though.

(BTW, Earth Day is also our anniversary. :) )

The only thing I can come up with is that I wish I put more in a compost pile instead of the trash can especially since my garden could always use more.....I am sure I have other bad habits.

I want to set up a compost in my yard. I wish our province did composting like one of the Eastern provinces we lived in years ago - every house not only recycled for curbside pickup, but also had a small compost bucket for the house and a large bin that went out on garbage day. I loved that and it really cut down on waste!

We have a lot of reusable shopping bags, purchased here and there. When we do get plastic bags (especially when I forget the reusable ones, shame on me) I set them aside for kitchen garbage bags. There are also places to recycle them when I have too many. :)
