Not a soul stirs

No feathered fowl in sight

Just myself

And the crispness

Of the air, water and ice

Why are your hands flat, edged and previously round

maybe I looked to the side, where I drown

The spirit of isolation

takes hold, sending chills

down my spine. Distorting

the hands of time. Hands

and feet become ice, memories

mutilate my mind, the watery

abyss comes rushing in like

a hurricane, I begin to scream

your name!

A sea of slippery
stepping stones
float above
many perilous paths.

Choose wisely;
stay balanced.
With one wrong step
you could slip

into the numbing
coldness
of unwise
choices.

Oh I really like this one Ray. Love how you used -unlike warm, scattered tea-leaves, as the opposite of the slabs of broken ice.

A veritable jigsaw,
a cold one at that;
unike warm,
scattered tea-leaves,
to be read in a cup.
These slabs of ice
are uninviting pieces
of mischief
that are only redeemed
by the weak light above
which strongly reflects,
HOPE.
