Close your eyes...

Be still, take a deep breath and close your eyes… Close your eyes…Listen to the music as it transports you to a distant place. It is the celebration of longest night of the year. A room full of ladies and lords clothed in velvet, gold and jewels. Down one side of the hall is a long table laden with all imaginable delicacies, wild game and fowl, breads, cheeses, exotic fruits, sweet and savory pies and platters heaped with delectable tidbits. To your left are musicians, to your right, the lord of the land and his lady. Greenery is draped over the mantle, wrapped around posts lining the hall, and all is lit by candles. There are roaring fires at the far ends of the hall. Although the snow is falling and the wind is bitter cold, inside everyone is joyful and warm, as a cup of mulled cider is offered to you and you join the festivities.

Very nice descriptions to bring the room/festivities alive.

Thanks - I had something like that playing in my cubie at the office as the judges for the "holiday decorating contest" came along, and I read them this. Although the award they gave me said most imaginative, I call it the "messing with their minds" award :-)

Splendid depiction. I think I remember the very place from one of my past lives.

Embrace change.
