Hi Everyone!

With the recent board changes, your community leader, pat305 hasn't been able to access the board; I've been in contact with her and we're hoping to have that hurdle overcome soon. I know there is a great group of "regulars" here (robertas3, adetelyu, char307, wulfrunian, tillyrose2000) and I want to make sure each and every one of you are able to log in and post like normally. So please update me here on your specific issues or if you're not able to post, trying PM'ing me or email me at entcm@mail.ivillage.com . And, if you just want to post and vent, well, that's okay too! I know things are frustrating right now but our tech team is working like crazy to get all the kinks ironed out for us. You've all been so patient and I want... no, I need you to know that I'm here to help in any way I can.

In the meantime, here is some information updates of issues and fixes that you may find useful that Community Director Jessica has been sharing on iVillage Help:

Hi Bren, I've been away, ill of late, old age is slowly killing me. I'm amazed at the changes, please don't add to my woes?  I rely heavily on my email notifications of posts relating to anything I was involved in on this board, it does not seem to happen now?  I have to "google" and woogal and boogy woogy to get on here now?  I am able to get here somehow, but it is not so convenient.  I am in favour of progress, but if progress is so slow as to go into reverse, then progress such as this is to be deemed questionable.  My wish is for happy understanding.

Ah, dear sir, Welcome back! I am so sorry to hear you have been feeling under the weather. Alas, old age is slowly taking it's toll on all of us, but I picture you giving that demon a good battle yet! Especially since you were able to google, woogal and boogy woogy your way back here, thank goodness!

In an effort to lift a particle of your woes, I do have some good news on the email notification front. While it's true that it is not functioning as it once was right now, I have a link to a tutorial posted by CMErin, our Community Technical Assistant, that should help walk you through adding back notifications to discussions you're interested in. Here's the link...

Please let me know if that helps and if you encounter any issues at all, just give me a yell! Wink

Hi Bren.  I have long been an admirer of your prose.  This latest missive is no wonder to me, I do so wish you would be a regular contributer to the board in your own WRITE and amaze us all with your verbosity.  The technicalities of our transormation into a new site is secondary to a new writer on the block, I believe you to be a writer of some great concern, it is for you to prove me wrong?

Ah, you flatterer! Perhaps it is your own gentlemanly demeanor that inspires me; when conversing with you, I actually feel transported to a more courtly and civilized "old-world" era. But as a poet, I am sorely lacking -- However, since I shudder at disappointing you, I will share a recent short story of mine that I posted on another board, in my non-cmod name of southern_style. I just hope you aren't disappointed; this particular exercise was an attempt to rid myself of a re-occurring nightmare and dabble a bit in creative writing. Here you are...

At the very least, we shall see if you were able to successfully add this thread for email notifications! Wink

Dear heart, dear heart, you graft my life anew,
These old bones creak but they listen to you.
Creaking so they declare a life so new
That takes us both to a life denied to few.

OH Bren! See what you have done?  Inspired me in this, Just where do we go from here?

I visited your forum butin my sad state I am unable to convey your eloquence to here, good night my darling, you are on a platform with my beloved PAT.

Oh my... I can't imagine a higher compliment than that which you have given me, dear sir! I thank you for that and the encouragement to task me to write; I shall indulge myself more often. Wink

Seems to be working for me, but I'm concerned that even though I am in the US right now with a zippy connection, it's as slow as it is. I'm afraid I won't be able to use it much when I return home to West Africa.

Hi Adetelyu! The slowness is an issue that is being looked into, too. For me, it tends to be more of an erratic thing; sometimes I'm zipping along quite nicely and other times, it's somewhat pokey. Clearing cache and cookies and rebooting my browser does seem to help a bit.

When are you heading back to West Africa? I hope you've enjoyed your time here in the US and have a safe journey home!

Thanks, Bren. My dad has had two strokes, so I'm here for a bit.

I see I didn't get an email alerting me that you had replied--I hope that's going to be put back in place. And I don't see Rose's 50 ways to write poetry--I keep going back to that for ideas. In fact I was going to tell her that Robert Lee Brewer of the Writer's Digest, in his Poetic Asides, keeps writing nonets, or nine-line poems. I see she doesn't have that on her list, so we have 51!

Jackie, I am so sorry to hear that about your father. My thoughts and prayers toward a speedy recovery for him.

The email notifications are kind of hit and miss right now; I've been getting a few but they tend to be mostly older ones. But, I can say that it's on the list of things that have been reported. And in case anyone needs instructions on how to add email notifications, CMErin has provided a tutorial here:
http://www.ivillage.com/forums/ivillage-women/around-ivillage/ivillage-help/ivillage-help/how-add-email-notifications#new

I believe this might be the link to Rose's 50 Ways to Write Poetry discussion, just in case you do want to add nonets to the count. We both know how our poets here love a challenge! :-)

Please keep us updated on your dad's progress; I hope you're taking care of yourself, too. {{Hugs}}
