Book or movie?

Lately it seems like lots of books have been made into movies, and not always for the better. Which do you prefer, to read the book or see the movie?

I always prefer the book, simply because there's always so many little extra nuances in the written story than the one portrayed on the screen. And, I do understand that it's impossible to put everything from a book into a movie; no one wants to sit through a movie that length! That said, I've still seen a number of movies from books that I've enjoyed but seeing them usually makes me want to read the book again, so I can savor the whole story.

That's how I felt about "The Help", there was so much left out of the movie. Especially anything that would be controversial in the present time.

I just watched the movie, The Help, this weekend. If I hadn't read the book, I probably would have enjoyed it a little more but I kept thinking about the events they left out that made it that much more meaningful. But I have to admit, Octavia Spencer was a magnificent Minnie Jackson! She was probably my favorite character in the entire movie.
