A new trend in air safety videos?

Slightly off topic, but I read this on another board and just couldn't resist sharing it here! It seems that Air New Zealand is taking the Middle Earth route to inform their passengers of flight safety with "An Unexpected Briefing" -- a reference to the first Hobbit film titled "An Unexpected Journey" -- in their new safety video.

The video features Gollum crawling through the aisles and Peter Jackson finding the One Ring on the cabin floor! It's pretty neat, including an aircraft pilot outfitted as a Grey wizard, an elf explaining how emergency oxygen masks work, passengers trying to pronounce "Mordor," and even Jackson uttering the infamous phrase "my precious" to the ring.

What do you think? It would be interesting if it started a trend, with safety videos using other hot movie sagas to grab the flyers' attention! Just think how many YA based characters/movies that could encompass! With all the extra charges US airlines are imposing on people now days, they could at least give us some creative safety videos, don't ya think? I know I'd be in a lot better mood checking out some of the hotties from Twilight on any flight! Hubba hubba! Wink

How funny!  I guess anything to get people's atttention during the video is a good thing.  On a sort of related note, have you seen the sculpture at New Zealand's Wellington Airport?

I forgot to add in my first post that if they have one starring Gerard Butler, I'd certainly pay attention!
