Does media hype about a movie make you..

...want to see the movie or turn you off?

If there is mass marketing of a movie, I usually feel pretty turned off. I DID go see all three Lord of the Rings movies, because I was a fan. But movies like Titanic, Spiderman, some Harry Potter etc. I have not even rented on video. Maybe they are good, but often I find that they don't live up to the incredible hype that precedes them, and then I'm disappointed. I go to the ones I want to see, not the ones that are mass marketed.

For instance, like mentioned before, The Day After Tomorrow was totally hyped up, and I didn't really like it. Too predictable, the best scenes were shown in the previews. My Big Fat Greek Wedding? I found it boring and not all that funny.

Hmmm. Is it just me? lolol!

No, not really. I like seeing previews of upcoming movies, to get an idea of what it is and an idea if it's the sort of thing I might like, but extra hype doesn't really affect me. I see movies I think I'll like. I knew I'd like the LOTR movies, because I loved the books, and I like escapist stuff like Batman, so I figured I'd like Spiderman. But what I don't like is when I go to see a movie, and all the good scenes were already in the trailer! They should hold *something* back for the ones who go to the movie to see!
