Before pursuing a career in comedy, Drew Carey worked as a waiter at a Denny’s in Las Vegas. He also worked for a time as a bank teller, and served in the Marine Corps.
He was 33 before he first appeared on a network show - Johnny Carson's Tonight Show in November of 1991. That was followed by an appearance on The Torkelsons as "Herbie Scroggins" on February 16, 1992 and his first movie role was as a taxi passenger in 1993's Coneheads.
