More than 30 years ago, news broke that film star Natalie Wood was the victim of an accidental drowning in the Pacific Ocean. There were conflicting versions of what happened but renewed inquiry came after the boat's captain, Dennis Davern, told "48 Hours Mystery" and the TODAY show that he heard Wagner and Wood arguing the night of her disappearance and believed Wagner was to blame for her death. Now the coroner's office has amended her death certificate from an accidental drowning to "drowning and other undetermined factors."

I remember hearing about it all those years ago and at that time, no one seemed to question the reported facts... maybe because Wagner and Woods were considered one of Hollywood's "Golden Couples"?

What do you think? Could there be something more to it or do you think it's just a case of the captain grabbing for a bit of attention?

I don't know... I think that it is odd that the captain waited so long to come forward with his "suspicions". Why would he not have said something all those years ago? But I mean, really... if they had an argument, it could well be as the previous poster suggested... that she left in a huff and she met with a legitimate accident.

Sad as it is, things like that happen. One of my best friends got into an argument with her husband, left the house and died in a wreck just a few miles from home. When you're emotionally upset, like you'd be after bickering with your spouse, you're just plain distracted and not always on focus with what you're doing or where you're going.

Agree. It's too long for it to be credible. Plus it reminds me of how my mom always used to tell me never get in the car when you're emotional. Things happen way too quickly when your mind is preoccupied. I bet she did huff off and something terrible happened.

I was just reading about this this morning and I personally think the Captain is just trying to get some attention out of it. I think it was very unfortunate that she and her husband were arguing and she probably thought she'd show him a thing or two and leave. She then ran into some complications and drowned. I truly believe it was an accident that needs to be laid to rest.
