Theater chain rewards for NOT texting during shows!

Don't you just hate trying to watch a movie that you've paid good money to see, only to be constantly distracted by people who insist in texting? Well, there is hope! Cinemark, a major movie-theater chain has decided to offer a little incentive to reward moviegoers for not texting during film. They have announced a new program, CineMode, that will launch from inside Cinemark's cell phone app.

Once the app is started, the phone's screen dimmed and owners are asked to set their phones to vibrate. When the movie ends and the phone exits CineMore, a digital coupon for a discount on a future movie is sent to the app.

What do you think? Could this actually catch on and maybe make movie going just a little more pleasant?

I just think it is super sad that they have to do something like this.  Why can't people just unplug and enjoy a movie?!?  Would it catch on? Maybe.  I just think it is sad that a theater has to resort to bribery to get people to turn off their phones!

I think it is horrible. When we as a nation are rewarding people for doing the right thing, that is pretty pathetic. I think we should all make a point of hissing, staring, pointing, or grunting when someone's phone goes off in a public place like the movie theaters. Maybe more people would get the idea it is not acceptable.

I certainly do hope that starts a trend! There's nothing more annoying than trying to watch a movie with people around you texting. I think it's so darn rude... if you need to text, take your rear end to the lobby and go wild! But don't interrupt the people around you who want to *gasp* -- watch the show!
