Sorry I've been gone. My update.

I've just been having a hard time lately and trying to help get my husband's new business off the ground since he's been out of work about 4 months now and can't get a regular job. He has sent out tons of resumes and applications, and even had interviews but no one calls him back... so he's self-employed now. If it weren't for his mom, we'd be homeless because she's been helping out. Also, we've had to sell a lot of things just to pay for stuff and unfortunately DH's new job requires a lot of driving so we are spending at least $110 a week on gas alone plus vehicle repairs.

It's hot where we are but not as hot as some places.

The teenagers are driving me crazy and I'm so ready for them to go back to school but then that means new clothes and supplies and buying stuff for high school classes is ridiculous!! :smileymad:

Thursday was my birthday but couldn't do much because I have a scratched cornea and it was pretty painful. I had a reaction to the antibiotic ointment they gave me and it got worse, so I have ended using the ointment and I think I'm doing better now.

Well that's pretty much what I've been doing lately. I'll probably stick around again for awhile or I will try anyway. So much has been happening with the shows; I've been wanting to start discussions about them but just haven't had time. I'll try better now I promise. :smileyhappy:

Oh no Laurie! I really hope things turn around on the job front. We went thru that about five yrs ago. We thought with my dh having 30 years of experience in his field that he could find a job much easier. Not so much. He is working now but with only half as much as he was. We lost our house and did the same you guys are, just selling things here and there to get by. My parents have helped us out a lot too. We literally would have been homeless too if they hadn't had thhis rental we live in now.

Same here with our weather. Just like Terre! Triple digits for I think over 3 wks straight. Its nuts! I'm watering too but the weeds seem to be growing faster than the grass. I'd have a beautifully green lawn if it were all weeds. LOL!

School starts here next week. Mom took my dd and I out for school suppliies and when we checked out I thought she was going to pass out. They just can't believe how high just elementary school is and that doesn't count clothes and book fees.

Hang in there and I will be saying prayers for you. Easy to say, I know, but it will turn around.

Thanks Chris! Things are going a little better. And it looks like we finally figured out a way to drive to see my mom after not seeing her for many years. She hasn't seen the older kids since before they were teenagers and she's never met Matthew and he's almost 4. We just have never had an opportunity to go. Too expensive to fly all of us and never had time or money to drive there. It's 1500 miles one way. And she's almost 90 and I don't want her to die before seeing the kids at least one more time.

We are in the 90's and are lucky that we have irrigation and it's very cheap and since we rent our landlords pay it so we can water as much as we want to. I know that doesn't make you feel better, sorry. My family is in Texas though and it's really, really bad there. They are saying it's the worst drought ever in history. My sister says everything is brown and she lives in Austin and for as long as I can remember it's always been green there.

A lot of things are up in the air right now. Thank you for the prayers. Our future is uncertain and I'm just really stressing right now. Also, pray that plans to go visit my mom work out? Thanks!

Thank you Terre! Well, my eye is better and the people he's been working for (freelance - commission) have offered him a full time salary plus bonuses. It's not a huge salary but it's better than nothing and about $500 more a month than his last full time job and with this job he's able to make his own schedule, that's why we might be able to drive to Texas to see my mom. (See reply to Chris, that explains everything)

Sorry about your bronchitis and pink eye. Strange we both had eye problems, lol. My husband has had a cough for months but they didn't tell him he had bronchitis even though it sounded like it to me. They just treated him for a sinus infection but he's still coughing a little but it's better.

Sorry about your weather too, as well as Chris. I just can't imagine what all these places with this hot weather and droughts are going through. Like I told Chris, everything is green here because we have irrigation canals where the run off from the snow in the mountains comes from and we had tons of snow this year so we have lots of water to water the yard with. I really am thankful for that. We are hot though and the A/C is on almost constantly and our elect. bill is astronomical. I think where my family in Texas lives has had 110 and 115 degree weather. In all my years of living there I think the highest I ever saw was 106. Unbelievable! If we are able to go to Texas it will be around Labor Day so I hope by then they will have some cooler temperatures and get some rain.

Thanks for the prayers and I will pray for your weather to get cooler and get some rain as well as the rest of the country!

Wow! Sounds like Texas! Glad you got some rain though! Did you go out and stand in the rain? Or was it still too hot! I love standing in the rain when the weather is hot. Are they turning the power off because of the heat? I know that if it gets too hot some places do rolling black outs? That sounds terrible! How do you stay cool? When we lived in Southern California our house didn't have A/C because the temps rarely got over 90 because we were 15 minutes from the ocean and we usually had a wind so all we had to do was open the windows and doors and it usually kept it cool enough, however, there were some times that it got so hot that at night we couldn't have the windows and doors open because that was dangerous of course so we had a pot of water sitting on the dresser with a fan blowing across the pot of water directed at our bed and we still had to sleep without any covers. It was miserable.
Thanks for the prayers and positive words. It's really hard to be positive and believe after it's been going on for so long.

LOL, no I didn't stand in the rain. Believe it or not we're not in the 100's anymore. With all the rain we've gotten it's cooled down a bit. Right not it's abut 78 (it's been raining all day) and the humidity isn't bad but this week we've been in the 90's. We haven't had any black outs. The power has gone out due to lightning strikes not necessarily because of the heat.

Thank you Chris but I don't really think that what we are going through is worse than what you are having to take care of with your health problems and then having to take care of both of your parents.
I just have to stop sometimes and say things could always be worse and they always say that God won't give you more than you can handle but sometimes lately I feel like I am going crazy and can't handle it anymore. Thanks to you guys though, you are really helping. I don't know what I would do without your support!

Glad you have had some rain. We are still hot and the grass that doesn't get watered is dead. Our electricity bill for last month was $160! I don't know how we can pay bills that high. And I normally keep the thermostat around 76. That's just about as hot as I can handle. I guess we should invest in some floor fans.
I really hope we can go see my mom too. I wish we lived closer but we moved up here to be near my husband's family and he grew up here. And we really like living here. We just hate the winters (they are cold and long) but love spring and summer.
I just have the feeling that my mother doesn't have much more time left and I would regret it the rest of my life if she didn't get to see us one more time. One of our plans is to sell everything we can, move out because we can't afford this house anymore, put the rest of our stuff in storage, and have a cheaper house lined up to move in to when we get back from Texas. We are also talking about moving to Salt Lake City that would have tons of work for my husband to do and they have no one there doing what he's doing.
OH! And DH's best friend lives there too and is self-employed and they have something that they want to do together, it's another idea of my DH's.

Sorry so long! Thanks again you guys!

Well, that's good news! We are still in the 90's. 78 and rain sounds great!! One good thing here is we don't have much humidity.
But we've been having some grass fires so the air is hot and smells like grass burning. I think they've been caused by lightning.
