Oh yes, I am very familiar with an allergy test. I had one like you described back when I was in the 7th grade. I'm allergic to spring pollen, weeds and some grasses and of course shell fish. I also have asthma (since I was 12 weeks old) but it's managed beautifully with meds, thank goodness for modern medicine. I haven't had an attack since we got the dogs so that's been about 8 or 9 years. Oh man, that's horrible to be allergic to sunflowers. I love sunflower seeds!!
I love watching wildlife too. Where we moved from, we had tons of quail to watch and chukar and some squirrels. This new house, no quail :( or chukar, no squirrels either. Plenty of cats roaming around though! LOL DH put up our bird feeder with winter bird food right outside our kitchen window and got nothing but then the finches and sparrows started coming and eating. They are so pretty. And I didn't want them leaving and I knew they needed water to stick around because most of the water around here is frozen so I found tabletop birdbath on CL and it froze over every night so I was out every morning with hot water to melt it and they don't use!! So I don't bother doing that anymore. But I guess they will use it in the summer.
I'm also allergic to pretty much all pollens (trees, grass, weeds, etc, dust, mold, cats and dogs (think that stopped me from having pets? NOPE) I love them too much. I had one allergist tell me to not have dogs or cats and I was like, yeah right, I can't live without them! (But I didn't tell her that!) LOL I was allergic to our yellow lab but since we got the boxer, they have short hair, and don't shed as much so I'm not so bothered by him. If I really love on him and hug him though, I'll get some hives. And the cats we have, I'm not that allergic to them. I've read that some cats are just worse than others.
My allergies are all during the springtime - never in the summer. Strange huh because I'm surrounded by weeds and grass in the summer LOL
It's my understanding it's not the dog or cat hair that I'm allergic to - it's the dander or saliva which is what most people experience with animal allergies. When we first got Jack I cried for a week thinking I had to get rid of him. He was such a cute puppy and as soon as I would pick im up I would get asthma and allergy symptoms. Then I went back to the doctor and started taking Zyrtec and Singulair and no asthma or allergies!!
I have allergies ALL YEAR LONG!!! But some times are worse than others. I don't know if you guys are familiar with cottonwood trees but we have tons around here and the cotton flies through the air all over the place and my nose is almost constantly tickling! I'd rather clean the bathroom more than anything else. I just hate cleaning period! I also really, really HATE doing the dishes, so I do most of the cooking and DH does the dishes. Sometimes the kids do it.
Why can't you wear watches? Reaction to the metals? I have a friend who can't wear any jewelry. Maybe real silver and gold but nothing cheap at all because she'll have a reaction. I can wear anything and I'm fine. Which is good since we can't afford the expensive stuff.
We have been sleeping with the fan on because our bedroom is upstairs and even with the vent closed we wake up hot and last night we turned it on, and since the vents have been cleaned we haven't cleaned the dust off the ceiling fans and immediately DH and I started coughing and stuff so we had to turn it off and I just went downstairs and turned the heater down and we opened the window a crack. It was nice to get fresh air! Terre - No I don't think you've ever mentioned that before.
I went to the foot doctor yesterday. She removed the crusty bloody spots around my nail (I know, TMI). It kind of hurt. Anyway, I'm supposed to continue to put neosporin and a bandaid on it until it heals which I hope is SOON!!! I'm so ready for my toenail to get healed.
