Have you tried either one and which one do you prefer? Why?
I have them both. Netflix is cheap & has some original content that you can't get elsewhere. Amazon Prime is for so much more than the movies, altho they do have a pretty diverse catalogue, including some cancelled TV series, like 666 Park Avenue.
I have both. I got Prime for the free shipping, the streaming is a bonus. So far we haven't watched very much on it but I've noticed that Prime has some content that Netflix has on DVD but not on streaming; and Prime has HBO content whereas Netflix has no HBO. We've never paid for any content from Prime. It seems like Prime is better for watching TV shows than movies.
We have Netflix streaming and DVDs by mail. For under $20 a month for both it seems like a good deal. My dh watches something on it almost every night so we definitely get our money's worth. The new releases are usually only on DVD, and sometimes there is a wait. The turnaround on the DVDs is quick, if I mail it on Monday I usually have the next disc on Wednesday.
I guess I prefer Netflix for viewing because we use it a lot more, but its kind of apples vs oranges because with Prime much of the value for me is not related to the video, like the free shipping, some e-book deals, and now a music component.
Hi! I have both. I wasn't sure if I was going to keep Prime, since it increased in price, but they hit my account so I just let it be. We watch Netflix a lot more, but I have younger kids so I find it speaks to them more. :)
I don't have netflix, we have hulu plus and Amazon Prime. We got the Amazon Prime mostly for the free 2 day shipping, but the streaming has definitely been an advantage at times with the kids being able to watch stuff.
