These are 2 of my favorite shows and now they are on opposite each other. I can't stand it. I don't have TIVO either. Maybe I will have to focus on 1 and wait for the other's reruns.

Last night I kept trying to follow both shows by switching back & forth but missed important parts on Judging Amy. Does anybody know how she ended up ruling in the child custudy case? I saw the part where the father spoke. I missed the part where the mother spoke and when Amy gave her decision.

Thanks,

Janine

She ruled that they had to share custody. At that point the father told her that he was withdrawing his petition. He couldn't make the mother and child be excluded from her family.

Why would she have been excluded?

Joint custody would have required the mother to have contact with the father. According to the rules of the Amish this is not allowed. An Amish person cannot have contact with a non-Amish. Contact is only allowed during the special time where the teen was deciding which culture to live in. Once the mother committed herself to the Amish life she had to break off all contact with the outside world.
