Don't read if you don't want to know...
ITA and I hated MaryAnn. There was plenty going on in the book where the show didn't need to be entirely hijacked by her. I don't like Sophie either and she's in the book, must be the actress.
DH just has a really hard time separating the two but it's been a long time since he's read the books. Hopefully he won't remember a whole lot and that will keep him from losing his mind. I'll just constantly hear: Did that happen in the book? or
My husband hasn't read the books. and ...I think at times he forgets that not only have I read the books, I've read them all TWICE (so far) so when I say something didn't happen he argues with me about it. **eyeroll** Yes Dear that happened (was said) in the SHOW but it didn't actually happen in the BOOKS.
kind of like Twilight the Movie has things that Twilight the book doesn't...actually it's more like Twilight the Book has all kinds of crap they didn't bother to put in the movie because...Pfft sticking with the book? That's for LOSERS! (the same can be said for the movie extremely loosely based on a book possibly by JK Rowling..aka Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix- the ONLY thing that movie got from the book was the title).
I really don't MIND movies/TV shows taking certain liberties with book to TV/Movie adaptations but certain liberties and where the Sam Hill did that come from are Two VERY different things. Like the MaryAnn crap in TB season 2, if you've read the books we know that "mary ann" (who has no name in the book) has MAYBE a paragraph in the entire book and yet Season 2 was totally about her. I really took an issue with that.
Translation... They're not going to follow the books at all anymore. :oP
**sigh** I still like the show though, I'll just try to forget all of book 3.
I seriously love this show!
