Amazing Race (4/4) (spoilers)

I missed part of the episode due to a problem with our smartcards. It's been going on since March and it's EXTREMELY annoying.

I can't believe Gretchen and Meredith are still hanging in there! WTG! They are the oldest couple to make it this far in the race.

I was sad to see the brothers go home. I really liked how nice they were to one another. I'm getting pretty tired of Ron and Kelly. He reminds me of an ex-boyfriend of mine. Always feels he needs to be in control AND loves to point out other people's flaws. I've tried and tried to like them - but, I just can't. He gets on my last nerve. I like Uchenna and Joyce. They are always so respectful to each other. Rob and Amber are running a GREAT race! I bet Lynn and Alex are ticked off that R&A were first again and won ANOTHER trip. Speaking of L&A - I laughed out loud when Alex decided to put a bunch of their clothes on just in case they were last and it was non-elimination. That was too funny. Did you see Phil's face? LOLOLOL!!!!

I'm looking forward to tomorrow's recap/never been seen before scenes show.

Can't wait til next week's show!

Just how far behind were the brothers that Lynn & Alex had two cars breakdown and still beat them, Meredith & Gretchen had to leave the pit stop and go back for a clue and still beat them, and Uchenna and Joyce also had to leave the pit stop and go back for the post and still beat them?

Read the clues, people!

Loved the brothers putting on their crazy outfits of swim trunks and winter hats and sunglasses to go out in style.

Alex was sooo funny layering on clothes in case they came in last on a non-elimination round! And Lynn told him to put some of Lynn's underwear on!

The beauty queen (Kelly?) said Ron told her to "Shut the F up". Wouldn't they have showed that in the subtitles? I also didn't hear him call her white trash, like she said he did. He was really ragging on her not being able to carry the water on her head. Speaking of which, did you see Uchenna and Joyce carry those items? Uchenna, especially. He was really moving fast!

How did Rob and Amber end up finishing ahead of Ron and Kelly? It looked like Rob was really hustling to drag the logs out of the road. And Amber looked like she had milked goats all her life! She was pulling on the teat just like you're supposed to.

Looks like they might be in India, next week.

I too was sad to see the brothers go. They were beginning to grow on me. I also am impressed that M&G are still around. But last night when they showed up a the pit stop I was like, you know you never got the clue, so go back and find it. However they chose to go up to Phil. I guess if they had been last it would not have made a difference....but like as someone else mentioned....READ THE CLUES!!!

I was glad that U&J were able to get their post and get back. I am really starting to like them. A&L were funny at the pit stop, the looks on their faces and the {{{WHAT}}}when Phil told them they were 4th was priceless. It does look like Rob does have a horseshoe up his #@^&@#, everytime they come in first there is a prize. Go figure that one out. R&A do work well together though it seems. All three of these teams seem to have solid relationships and support each other for the most part.

R&K on the other hand seem to be moving in the other direction. I do not recall Ron say that to her...I heard it as something else. However, we do not hear everything, so who knows.

Their driving through Africa must have been amazing, watching all those animals running about. I was amazed at U&J carrying those items....no one else even came close to be able to do it.

Can't believe we are down to 5 already.

I totally forgot that AR was on last night... thank God for my DVR box! And DH because he noticed something was recording.

I must be sick or something but last night I actually *kinda* liked Lynn & Alex. I told DH that even though I can't stand them, they really work together well as a team.

I can't stand Kelly. I don't think Ron said that. I think that was when he told her she needed to chill, and she misunderstood him. She was wrong for calling him white trash.

I loved that Rob & Amber came in first. They're still my favorite and

Meredith and Gretchen must have 9 lives!! It's amazing what they've had to endure and still remain in the race. Now I'm rooting for them just for their staying power. I was a little annoyed with Meredith not listening to Gretchen, though. She kept saying 'We don't have the clue' and he just kept driving. Even walking into the pit stop she said, 'We didn't pick up the clue' and he just kept walking.

Uchenna and Joyce are starting to grow on me. Don't know why I've not been rooting for them. The more I see of them the ore I see of their love and respect for each other. I liked the way Uchenna held the Jeep door for Joyce and made a grand sweep of his arm saying 'Ladies, first!' It just struck me as sweet. And they really do support each other in the difficult challenges. Wasn't Uchenna saying stuff like 'That's my girl!' and 'You've only got a few more steps!' when they were carrying stuff. (BTW -- I could never do that! I've got horrible posture.) And I keep seeing Joyce falling off that horse and instead of yelling at her (like some of the other partners would and did), Uchenna was supporting all her efforts. That probably helped her keep trying and finish. The looks on their faces when Phil said they had followed the directions was unbearable. They had worked so hard and they were completely blown away when he said that. Luckily they figured it out and got back quickly -- still in the same position!

I did earn a new respect for Lynn and Alex with that driving competition. (Sorry, don't know who is who.) As soon as they read the clue they knew they'd made a mistake because the one didn't know how to drive a stick. But boy did his partner support him nicely. No yelling. Lots of encouragement. Telling him it didn't matter what position they came in. And he was smart to tell him to go through the water in first. But no one else seems to have heard the racist comment they made at the detour. They (like everyone else) tried the balancing/walking first and couldn't do it. As they were leaving, Uchenna and Joyce were just starting and they said 'Let Uchenna and Joyce do it. They're made for it." That kind of comment just gets my blood boiling.

Would love to know what the brothers did so wrong. DH asked me why they were last and I couldn't explain it. I don't watch the early morning television shows that these 'castoffs' are on. Maybe I'll have ti tivo it this morning to hear what they have to say.

Dh watched the show yesterday and I noticed the comment that Lynn/Alex made about Uchenna and Joyce. I would think that out of everyone, these two would be the least likely to be prejudice against someone else considering their untraditional lifestyle, yet I catch them making rude/racist/judemental comments ALOT. Just because Uchenna and Joyce are black doesn't mean that they're "made to" carry stuff on their heads.

My DH and I both noticed the comment Lynn or Alex made about U&J being made to carry those things. Even though it wasn't funny we couldn't help but laugh at their cattiness.

I was a little disappointed to see the brothers go and to see R&A come in first (well, I was alot more than disappointed LOL). I wish he'd get that horse shoe out of his butt!!! Although I sometimes find M&G annoyed I give them crediting for hanging in there.

Someone asked about start time. I often take note of the times for my own reference. I'm assuming they're AM times.

R&K - 5:29
R&A - 5:43
U&J - 5:51
L&A - 5:52
M&G - DH distracted me so I didn't notice LOL
brothers - 6:22

Most were fairly close. Not sure exactly how the brothers ended up so far behind considering the mistakes others made.

I was really impressed and commented several times to DH how incredibly supportive the one guy was to his boyfriend (I don't know which is which... I also don't know who is who in Meredith and Gretchen...they're both feminine names in my head LOL). Its nice to see them working so well as a team even if they've been driving me nuts the last few episodes. They were entertaining to me again last night (with the exception of the U&J being "made for it" comment...that made my jaw drop a bit)

The comment that Lyn and Alex made about U & J didn't really bother me. I didn't see it as racist. Maybe it's because U made basically the same comment about the task himself. He made a comment something like he could do the task because of his roots. So is it only racist when someone else makes a comment like that?
