Who else is planning to watch this? I really, really hope doing a family edition doesn't take away from this show. I LOVE the original format and am a tiny bit worried this edition is going to ruin that.

Did you look at the contestants on the CBS website? There are a few families with young (8-12 yr old) children. There are also a couple of teenagers (it should be interesting to see some of the teenagers deal with the crazy schedule and the long travel days). But many of the families are all adults (i.e., a group of sisters, a dad and his SILs, etc.). Like you said, I'm not sure how well this will work.

Also, I heard on a local (Chicago) radio station that because of child labor laws, they are only travelling 30,000 miles total where the previous shows have gone about 75,000 miles. Also, the radio station reported that they've reduced/eliminated the non-elimination legs because of the child labor laws. There is an unconfirmed rumor posted in another message on this board that they only travelled around North America, and given the shorten journey reported on the radio station, that now seems possible. I don't know about you, but for me the most interesting legs are where they are in countries with much different cultures that the U.S. where the teams have troubles communicating and getting around. There may not be much of that in this season.

I LOVE this show and I hope this season is good so that CBS continues to broadcast it.

I plan on watching and I already have a team picked out that I want to win who lives just 10 miles from me.

I'm definitely going to be watching, can't wait for mid-September when all my shows start up again. My poor, poor TiVo!
