Unbelieveable! A Long Island man has been arrested for allegedly shooting his girlfriend during a heated argument over the television show "The Walking Dead," authorities say.

Jared Gurman, 26, was charged with attempted murder after shooting his girlfriend with a .22-caliber rifle at his Williston Park home early Monday morning, police said Tuesday.

It's a televison show, for goodness sakes! The guy has to have some really serious issues; hopefully his girlfriend recovers and moves on!

I usually stay over on the Book Club board, but I saw this headline and article and wanted to comment.

I really like "The Walking Dead," tv show and what I've read of the graphic novels. I know there are novel novels, later in the book series, but I haven't read them yet, so I can't comment on them...

According to the news article, the guy shot his girlfriend of several years because he so adamantly believed the government military could release a zombie plague. She left him alone, because he was sounding crazy. Then she went to his apartment to check on him hours later. That's when he shot her.

This guy shouldn't have been able to have guns. Or been able to watch "The Walking Dead."

My personal thoughts are that the guy himself was a ticking time bomb; to be so obsessed with an idea as to shoot someone who doesn't see your point of view is certainly not normal. Chances are, he'd have hurt her in some other way, had a gun not been available, but I totally get what you're saying.
