Is it possible that CBS pulled some strings?I wasn't thinking that way until i read someone else say that.But..look at how far behind Ron and Kelly were.If Uchenna and Joyce would have missed that flight..Rob and Amber were home free.I dunno..but interesting to think about. If CBS didn't pull strings..then I don't know.It seemed very odd to me that they let them on the plane.Rob and Amber still had a chance though...with the whole cigar shop thing.

I wrote about that below in my finale post.
I totally agree. It seems so shady. I really don't believe the pilot reopened the doors without some pushing from the show. I know they wanted a better ending, and I much prefer U and J winning over R and A, but still. It just seems like cheating. Sure R and A could have still won if they had been able to find the cigar shop, and it was cool how U and J were able to catch up (thanks to the gates shutting at 4 p.m.!) but still. They shouldn't have gotten on that plane in the first place.

It just left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't like the idea of strings being pulled like that. They could affect every winner in that capacity.

I can just see it now: Phil running around the final checkpoint with the mat above his head trying to keep Romber from stepping on it. HA! That's a joke, of course.

Anyway, I'm still thrilled for J and U. I just wish they had won it without any question marks left on their race.

Yeah I think the same thing... no way that would have happened to a regular person! And you're right that everyone would be furious if it would have been Rob & Amber instead of Uchenna & Joyce.

Also, what was up with R&A getting pulled over by the cops? DH and I also think the show had something to do with that.

I was thinking the *exact* same thing! Airlines have such strict rules about things like that -- once a plane has started to push away from the gate (and that plane had) they are not supposed to reopen the doors...so why did they? I think someone from the show pulled some strings or applied some pressure. If U&J hadn't been on that plane, R&A would have won for sure (at least an hour lead going into the last leg). Something seems fishy...

Yeah..I think it was a ratings thing.I mean..how boring would it have been if it hadn't been close?I honestly think CBS(or whoever)has more pull in the show then we think.I mean, weren't Rob and Amber right behind Joyce and Uchenna? So,they held them back until Uchenna and Joyce were done?Just makes me wonder what other things during the show are planned or fixed.Just my opinion..I still love watching the race and will watch next season too.

"I didn't see a whole lot of furor when a plane re-opened the doors for Rob and Amber in episode 3 or 4."

The plane door did not re-open. The plane was delayed by a few minutes, very common in air travel. Big difference.

Totally agree with you!!!!

I guess the flat tire the U & J got was planned too!!!!

I remember when DH and I were trying to get back home before we got married for final plans (aobut a month before the wedding) we got to the airport and they had closed the doors and boy I was upset!! I boo hoooed and cried and begged and they opened the door for us!!!

I think flat tires, cops pulling people over, business closings, arent the doings of TAR......I guess since their cabby could not find the cigar shop that could been the doings of TAR too...hmmm...too much for me!!!!

If R&A got on the plane alone, then it would not have been as exciting....TAR could have pulled strings.....makes no difference to me!!!...The only couple I did not want to see win was the couple that came in third.....

The strange thing to me is that everytime that R&A came in first, they got trips...that was kinda of fishy...but, hey....not gonna say it was a conspiracy!!!!

Everytime I've flown, when the door is closed - the flight is closed. If you aren't on the plane, you missed the flight and have to re-book. Never have I seen them open the door for someone after the flight is "closed".

I have to wonder if they weren't pressured a bit by the producers to re-open the door. Had R&A been the only ones on that flight - they would have won. No question about it - even with their cigar store screw up. Makes me wonder. Hmmmm...

Also, I have to agree that had it been R&A getting the door opened for them people would have been screaming conspiracy. Everyone would have been TICKED OFF that the plane was brought back and the door opened for them. I like Uchenna and Joyce and am perfectly happy with them winning. I'm just curious as to why they did it.

Oh well. What's done is done. This was a great season!

If it is the policy of the FAA not to allow the doors to reopen, why would they open them for some producers? I don't think they have that much pull. I think it was just pure luck. That's what the game is all about.
