Basic Biscuits

Basic Biscuits

2 cups all purpose flour
4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
4 tbsp cold butter or shortening or combination of both
1 cup cold buttermilk

Toss flour, baking powder, soda, and salt together.

Success! I had a small whisk that I ended up using instead of the fork or knives. It worked well! They tasted fantastic. Thank you!!
Oh! If you add cheese or bacon or anything else, do you need more liquid at all?

My family is already asking for more, it's a GREAT recipe to know.

I love my pastry blender too, I use mine for tons of things. It's of the blade variety too, and it works really well for mashing avacado's for guak, if you like it on the chunky side. I also use mine for breaking up egg yolk for deviled eggs.

Today John Besh made biscuits on his PBS cooking show, "my New Orleans". He had my pastry blender!

Notice that it is even advertised with potatoes, not flour and butter. It's a great multi-tasker, I use mine for so many things!
