Buttermilk powder?

I was watching Americas Test Kitchen and they were making waffles. Instead of buying buttermilk, they used buttermilk powder! They said its real buttermilk, dehydrated. He also said the stuff in the store is not REAL buttermilk. I have never bought buttermilk, so Ive never read the label. Anyway...anyone ever use the powder? I guess it keeps for near a year in the fridge!

Mom always kept French around to serve over cottage cheese (this is the same woman who put ketchup on navy beans and sugar on rice).

I'll post the French recipe today. The one I got from my friend is what she called "Dorothy Lynch". I guess it's a brand, or was many years ago, in the North Dakota area. It's definitely a tomato based dressing. It's too sweet though, in my opinion, so I cut the sugar in half.

LOL Karen. See what we bottled users grow up with? No idea that was true!
But that sounds so good!

I made biscuts tonight with the buttermilk powder. They did taste a little better. There wasnt a huge difference, but enough for me to say, hooray for buttermilk powder!!!
