Which reminds me of my favorite bean story.

I started buying dried beans instead of canned because of the whole BPA in the can lining thing, thinking they'd also taste better and be fresher, have no preservatives, etc. Only I rarely plan far enough in advance to soak them overnight. And it also seems to take hours longer to cook them than anyone says (would that be an altitude thing?) so I'm finding it really inconvenient to use the dried ones.

A 16 oz bag of beans will make far more than a 15 oz can ot beans though...

This begs a question...and a new topic:
TO SOAK OR NOT TO SOAK?

I ended up pricing the dried ones at Walmart the other day and they were more expensive than the canned! I was suprised, but it was $.99 for a 15 oz can or $1.44 for a 16 oz bag. I'll just go with the can since it's easier!

That recipe does look really good! I think I'm going to have to try it! I'll probably go with the canned beans to make it easy on myself for the first time trying it. If it's a hit, I'll try starting from dry!

I agree that you would need to soak them, but I think that once you make a big quantity they should keep fairly well? Or once you have them hydrated you could use some for roasting and some for salads, soups, etc.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to try them from the bag next time; just seems cheaper that way.

You need to cook them first.
