Today I was JONESING for a hot dog, so I cruised down to Sonic.  I was reading the menu board and noticed...OMG!  Deep fried dill pickles!!!  When did they add THAT?

Now my question:  why is is that Hot Pockets and fried pickles NEVER cool off?  I burned my mouth on every one of them.  It's a standard issue with deep fried dills.

They're VOLCANIC!

Around here, Sonic offers them for a short time every year or two. I love them with ranch dressing!

And yes, they stay hot!

Do you ever make them at home?  I do.  My SO was hunting for pickles last night to put on his McChicken sandwich, and found a whole jar of pickle brine with about 4 pickles in the bottom.  He said, "Are you saving pickle juice?"  I said, "Yes!  I like to brine chicken in it!"  He was not startled.

Deep Fried Dill Pickles

Use either spears or slices.  Drain the pickles well and toss them in seasoned flour.  Dip in beaten egg, then roll in a mixture of seasoned flour and cornmeal.  Fry in  hot oil and drain well.  I like to put a little Tabasco or Louisiana hot sauce to the egg :smileytongue:
