Ah, lots of great ideas!! A cheese ball would go over really well wtith the girls, I've never even thought about making one but it sounds so easy. Chips and crackers, done!! I wonder if it would be good with just plain cheddar cheese grated with the flavored cream cheese? I've always wanted to try homemade chips though.

Fondue!! I have always wanted to try it, but don't have a pot. It's on my list of wants though. I've never even had it, I don't think but I just know I'd love it, and all kinds.

Broth would be great in a tempura pot or fondue instead of oil!

I did only 2 types of cheese balls this year. The first one was made with Italian dressing mix, some sundries tomato pesto that was in the fridge, green onions, garlic powder & mozzarella mixed with cream cheese -- it was tasty! The other one was my usual ranch dressing one with bacon bits added. I was out of ranch mix the first time, so I did the Italian & I think that is a keeper, too. I would really like to do a fondue night, but I'm not sure how well the boys take to cheese fondue, although they do like the go fonduta at Olive Garden. I'd like to do a beef, chicken or shrimp fondue. Could I use broth rather than oil? What about dipping sauces? Neighbors used to make the best cheddar beer fondue when I was a kid --we all looked forward to their annual Christmas eve party, because that was always on the menu! Maybe some tortilla pinwheels? Potato skins? Spinach dip? Quiche?
