My daughter did the cake; Hannah's big sister Claire is happy to help her eat it!

Impressive cake. As of right now I don't think I'm going to do a party for Quinn's second. But we will go swimming and to Jumpin Jungle (building full of bounce houses) and have his favorite foods. I feel that b-days party's should be for the kids and before about age 3 most kids don't understand the hullabullo, so whats the point in having a party, except for the parents desires. I know that a lot of my feelings about this have been solidified by my SIL because she would have b-day party's for her kids that had 15-20 adults and 20-25 kids, most kids being way older than birthday child. The kids ran amuck breaking and spilling and the adults chatted. My parties as a child were usually sleepovers with as many friends (-1) as years I was turning (ie, turning 7, 6 friends and me make 7 kids). Of course that's what I found fun, and I think that is my kicker, for birthdays, which as I mentioned before, should be about the kid, it should be about what the kid finds fun. Ok, I need to get off my soap box now, its too early.

Yes, Hannah is too young to care about the party, but she loved the cake.

I should dig in the archives here and find our thread on the theme cakes we have made.

Hehehe, silly kids. DH's birthday was yesterday, Grandma Patty and Grandpa Gordon took us out to dinner. Grandma Patty said it felt like it was a different age of grandparent-hood having one that is 30 now :P Flip side to my soap box is that I understand that with older kids, you often have to do something for the younger kids cause the older kids want it for the younger sibling. But for the time being Quinn is an only and I know that is coloring my views.

I have to agree so many B-day parties are more for the grown-ups then the child. We used to do family parties for the kids. Then as
