My DH & oldest DS are mashed potatoes & gravy guys. The other two boys look forward to the sweet potato casserole (coconut, pecans & brown sugar), but last year we tried Paula Deen's sweet potato balls. Similar recipe covering a marshmallow, it was a hit! I look forward to stuffing, loosely following my dad's recipe -- rye bread, sausage & red wine being the key ingredients. I loved the fruit salad our neighbor made when we were kids -- fruit cocktail, bananas, mandarin oranges, walnuts, marshmallows & freshly whipped cream. We all loved that & looked forward to it, but no one In my family likes it but me...next big family gathering we have with my bros, I am going to have to make it for old times sake!
For my family, it's definitely my moms dressing recipe that I posted earlier. That's pretty much it, and it's always a hit.
I have added Broccoli salad about 4 years ago, and this year I'm adding custad pie to the dessert menu. I saw a recipe for Pumpkin Custard pie in the latest TOH magazine. I can't make it Thanksgiving, but I'm thiking of trying it out for Christmas.

My favorite tradition is the cranberry salad--gotta have it every year.
I feel so deprived...WAHHHHH!
We made the cranberry salad in a meat grinder, but a food processor would actually be better (now that they exist.)
