Need a good BBQ sauce recipe

Since Dh is on a corn-free diet he can't have his favorite condiment, his beloved BBQ sauce. A lot of vinegar is made from corn, though the ingredients labels don't specify, so that rules out most of them. Of course he can't have corn syrup and any other ingredients derived from corn. That eliminates every single sauce we looked at this weekend.

I did buy some rice vinegar, not knowing how/if the taste differs from regular vinegar, in hopes of making my own sauce. Does anyone have a good, corn-free, recipe?

LOL - we'll take your eggs and milk, but someone else can have the dyes and preservatives!

We've been doing this diet (no corn for DH, plus only whole grains, fruits, veggies, and very little meat) for about two weeks now and feel really good. DH has lost 8 lbs. Less for me, but the scale is going down nonetheless so I can't complain.

Goodness, he's probably like me, since corn is in EVERYTHING.

He's allergic to corn, but not like anaphylactic shock or anything, it just affects his asthma. He has an asthma attack whenever he's exposed to it. (Still serious, but not rush-to-the-hospital serious.)

It's my understanding that once distilled, the proteins in the corn are neutralized to the point of not having a dietary effect

I think its going to be hard to do this - with the flavor you want - I just throw stuff together too - never actually thought about the corn

I've never actually used a recipe, I just kind of throw it together, usually with a base of ketchup, which I'm sure has corn something. I'd use tomato sauce, instead & probably apple cider vinegar. Onion, garlic, brown sugar, worcestshire, maybe some mustard...it has been a while since I've made any & I just grab what sounds good, no measuring, just lots of dumping & tasting!
