I'm planning yet another reunion for my high school graduating class, and one thing that I have on the dinner menu that's got everyone excited is a Mashtini Bar.

I love mashed potatoes and gravy, and my mashed potatoes with lots of butter if no gravy. But the potato bowls don't look appealing to me. Corn, cheese..just not sure about that.

I agree on the KFC bowl, but I love the mashtini bar idea!

Okay, I have to confess that I tried the KFC bowl when it came out several years ago. It was pretty good. The corn was a bit out of place, but with all the other fat and additives and flavoring in it, it was good. (But far from good for you, which is why it was a "once in a lifetime" kind of thing.)

I love love love the mashtini idea. FAB!

Kind of like the baked potato bar. When I was a kid, we'd go to a restaurant that had a ton of topings for baked potatoes, I would get salad bar, always a favorite, still is, and just a potato...lol.

Yes!! We had potato bar once a week in school and the line was always running out the cafeteria doors. Gosh I might have to do potato bar at home. Never thought of it like that, but I bet the kids (and I) would love it!

I would to that at home, but again, I'm the only one who loves baked potatoes. DD3 might eat them, maybe I should try it out for the two of us.

We do it at work! Everyone tosses their taters in the nukker, and we spread a ton of toppings out. We have salad days the same way. Everyone brings what they have, and we all share.

We used to have potlucks once a month where I worked years ago. People got into a rut & would bring the same things all the time, so we started doing themes -- our baked potato bar was a big hit!! Everyone brought in their own potato & a topping, the boss took all of the taters to his house, cooked them up & brought them back in time for lunch. We did a "wing ding" with assorted chicken wings & sides, a pie day, finger foods, banana splits...I miss those days -- it was a fun place to work! We do a potato bar dinner a few times a year at home, I think we are about due for one. The kids love it & it is a pretty healthy meal. We do the salad bar thing once in a while, too. Only one of my boys will willingly eat salad, but the other two don't complain too much about salad bar night if there is plenty of meat & cheese to put on them!
