Man says Groupon coupons killed his business

This is so sad to me.  I hate to think that because Groupon worked so slowly, this poor man had to close down his business.  It is a bit interesting that you are not able to call Groupon and that they have not emailed the news station back, and that many people warn against using them to promote your business.  It is so hard to start a small business now a days, it's sad that something that was supposed to help business put an end to it.

I have never actually used the Groupon site.  Mostly because I haven't had much online time lately, so I don't have a lot of time to look around the web.

$8 for waffles sounds expensive, but I think that all depends on where you live too.  I think I would pay $8 for a stack of waffles if they were exceptional.  But it would definitely be a special occasion meal, not a regular purchase.  So he wouldn't have stayed in business because of me.  :smileyhappy:

That is very sad, but he admits he didn't do his homework first. There was a response from a spokesperson from Groupon, of course denying that it was their fault.

I think I read somewhere that his waffles were $8? Isn't that rather pricey for a waffle? Maybe that had something to do with him not getting any new customers.

Most of the comments slammed this guy for blaming Groupon for his failing business, and pointed out several reasons why he might have been responsible for his own undoing. The wait to get reimbursed did seem long though.

Have you ever used Groupon or any of the other similar sites?

That is so sad! It's too bad, really. It sounds like it would be a great way to get word out about your business. Too bad they sound like they are hard to work with. :smileysad: Makes me second-guess using a groupon deal again...
