Cooper Young Festival today!  There were an estimated 150,000 people at a street festival on a 4 block stretch of historic Memphis!  We had a ball, and now we are qualified to play parts as extras in The Walking Dead (with streets that packed, you get the zombie shuffle down really good).  Ellen and I were trying to meet some other people, a block and half away, and it took us 24 minutes to walk a block.

That's definitely a zombie shuffle, and that is definitely Midtown Memphis.  That is our arts district, and the most comfy place for homosexuals, so it's a really interesting culture.  I went to college in Midtown, so I had a place there in the 70's.  It's a microcosm.  Cooper Young/Midtown is a community of its own, it does not need Memphis.

Ellen's mission is always to get a corn dog, but the first place she wanted to stop was a pronto pup stand.  We got us each one, and I asked her if she knew the difference between a pronto pup and a corn dog. She looked at me like I had three eyes and the knowledge of the universe.  "There's a difference?" she asked.

It's all fair food, grease laden, and I still have indigestion, but there is a difference between corn dogs and pronto pups.  Corn dogs have a corn bread batter, pronto pups have a sweeter batter, like a pancake batter.  The latter is what we had today.

I'd like pronto pups better if they had a sausage (not hot dog) in the core.  It can be done.  I need to do it.  BWAAAHHHAAAAHHAAAHHAAA....the mad scientist is now on a mission and hunting for a food truck to buy...

But the highlight of our food experience today at the festival was stopping into The Beauty Shop.  It's a restaurant.  In an old beauty shop.  Complete with hair drier chairs and wash bowls.  They serve Asian cuisine.  We had tempura and sushi.  That is typically Memphis Midtown style.  I should hook Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives up with that place.  Guy loves Memphis anyway;  he really loves our quirkiness.

Radio Memphis broadcasted live via internet,  from the Stone Soup Cafe. It was fun!

I had a great time. Of course, corn dogs/Pronto Pups were first! Seeing Radio Memphis was way cool.. So sorry we missed my sister at the Beauty Shop, but, we had great sushi! Extremely crowded, but Karen and I had a great time.

WoW, from Facebook to village with a poke of a button. How neat is that? And I did it on my iPad too.
