Have you used a finger bowl?

Finger bowls were a staple of fine dining in the 60's. Warm water in a bowl, with a slice of lemon, for cleaning up after eating finger foods. You got clean fingers and a nice lemony deodorizing. In the 70's we evolved to warm wet terry washcloths brought out in something like a tortilla dish (to keep them hot).
I think we should bring back the finger bowl. And cloth napkins. What do you think about finger bowls? It sure beats wetnaps! And Purell??? What's up like that???? EWWW...

I have used a finger bowl a grand total of ONE time. DH and I went to Morton's in Seattle about five years ago., it is an old-school steakhouse. REALLY old-school. It was great. Not sure how I knew about finger bowls, but I did, and I am sure DH learned about them in culinary school.
REALLY OLD SCHOOL...HAHAHA! But I bet it was a really good steak!
Talk about old school; when I was growing up, women and girls were not allowed to go out in public unless they wore a dress. No pants, especially at restaurants. Then I heard on the news about a woman who wore a tailor made pants suit to a restaurant and they would not let her in because of the dress code. So she paid a waiter $20 to bring her a tablecloth, which she tied around her waiast, and they had to seat her then...she was wearing a "skirt." The city council decided to re-think the policies regarding women's clothing in public places.

Yes, I have been to restaurants where they have finger bowls of water. So yes I have used them along with napkins
