Hungry Girl finally got some air time on Food Network (I was getting very worried about all the redundancy with cake, candy, and absurd challenges).

I thought Jeff did a good job & both sandwiches looked & sounded pretty good, despite the fact he kept mentioning how oily they were not really a selling point with me! Surprised that he said mortadella was his favorite deli meat, it is not a good seller at our deli, at all. Maybe this will get people to try something new. I'm glad he mentioned about the chunks of fat -- worked with a woman a few years ago (she knew everything!), who insisted those were chunks of provolone cheese!! She would actually tell the Customers that, no matter how many times I told her it was fat & read & showed the label to her. Just one of the many reasons she irritated me...
I had only heard of Pioneer Woman from you, but I'm looking forward to checking her out. Hungry Girl? Not really a fan...I'd rather eat real food than most of her convenience concoctions.

I'm glad to know I'm not alone on the Hungry Girl.

As long As the mortadella is sliced very thin the fat is okay, but I have customers that like it sliced like twice as thick is bologna for sandwiches & that is gross -- cold fat is nasty!

I'm still on grocery hiatus so I passed up the urge to get a roast and make Italian Beef.

How are you doing on your grocery hiatus? I have been trying not to spend any extra money & use what I have on hand, but I bought home leftover sauerkraut from the hot dogs at church the other night. I am going to have to get pork chops & make a casserole, another thing I have have been craving (ever since I smelled that kraut the other night!)

got any ideas for small bowtie pasta? I have no clue why I bought "weenie" pasta. It's just not sturdy enough for my appetite.

I thought I had a can of Rotel in the cabinet...I made mini Mexican meatloaves tonight & wanted to dress up some as a side. I found a smallish can of southwestern corn which had black beans, onions &red peppers. So I added that diced a tomato & shredded a small piece of cheddar that was just taking up space.seemed to go over well. If I don't get a chance to use the rest as a side, I was thinking maybe some Mexican style chicken soup -- lots of stock fixings in the freezer!

Oh, I don't do beets, so pretty, but they smell like dirt!
Ilove tomato soup! I would use the borrows in soup or a pasta salad.
