I am seriously thinking about buying doggy medical insurance for them. My recent little bout at the vet with Rocky showed me just how much vet bills have increased over the years.

Hi - Karen asked us over at the Popular Dog Breeds board to come over and help if we could.

Well, Gaye here works for a commercial property and casualty broker, and she worked on the insurance company side for 22 years before that, but she has zero experience with pet insurance.

Yes it's how long you have to wait after purchasing a policy before you can use it. I think it's their way of excluding pre-existing conditions. Like Lucy with her heartworm treatment. If you got her a policy today, you would have to wait 14 or so days to use it so her treatment wouldn't get covered.

Just an FYI - it doesn't matter what vet you use because you're responsible for submitting the correct forms and receipts to the insurance company.

When Lucy gets the clean bill of health and can be active again, would you be up for a dog day at the park?

Let me know when she is well. Both of mine are runners.
