I found this recipes for crock pot yogurt a few days ago and am giving it a go!

I've heard several different ways of doing this, but they always seemed so scary and complicated. I'll let you know how this one turns out!

I noticed in the article that the yogurt was not as thick as store bought.

I don't know what I did wrong, but it did not work at all. :( I think my issue came between steps 1 and 2. It says, after cooking the milk on low for 2.5 hours to shut the crock pot off and let the warm milk sit for 3 more hours. After that you add the cup of yogurt, then wrap in blankets. Well after the three hours my crock pot and milk were completely cold. I still wrapped it in a blanket, like it said, but there was really no reason to. All the heat had already escaped.

I wondered about that whole "3 hours" thing.

Ahhhh, I looked at your recipe and I'm wondering if I did this instead:

1. cook the milk for 2.5 hours, as directed
2. add the yogurt and cook for 3 more hours (instead of turning it off)
3. turn it off, cover with blanket for 8-10 hours

I might give it a whirl and see if it works.

Thank you - yet again! ;)

Failure the second time too. :( This time I left the crock pot on for the three hours after adding the yogurt with "live and active cultures." Still the same result...milk.
