Milk in the news today

Milk was in the news twice today!  The American Dairy Association has petitioned the FDA to add artificial sweeteners to milk in hopes of increasing consumption.  It seems we are not drinking as much milk as we used to, and they think making it sweet will make us want more of it.  HMMM.  Mayor Blumberg, what do you think about that?  And they won't have to list the sweetener on the label!

I can't have whole milk.  So it doesn't bother me except in what it might do to change some recipes that are time honored in my kitchen.  I can COOK with milk, but I can't drink it.  Which brings me to the next story today.  It seems that your blood type has something to do with your ability to digest milk.  I'm an O.  That is the blood type most likely to have issues with milk (headache, abdonimal pain, lethargy, runny nose...endless list).  In my case, milk is like drinking a Superball.  It bounces right back up!

I'm having a hard time with the addition of sweeteners to milk.  What do you think?

I think it is a horrid idea!!!!!Smileycons! There is already so much you can add to milk if you don't like the taste of it.  A little chocolate, or get some of those (a-hemmm) flavored creamers to make it taste better.  They don't need to sweeten it up for us.  If parents can't figure out how to get their kids more calcium, well....I don't know.

I'm now going to go in another direction.......cows milk is suppose to be for......(what else)  baby calves.  Well, anyways.....I'm going to get something to drink now...maybe a rootbeer float.  LOL  It's almost 7 pm and I just know that there is something on I want to watch.  Smileycons!

Root Beer Float is called a Black Cow around here!  And I've been thinking about making ice cream this weekend.  YUM!  Do you follow "Walking Dead," Linda?

Walking dead?  Is that a tv program?   I have not heard of it but I have satelite, it must be on somewhere.

Have you made your ice cream?  I have a ice cream maker.  I should get it out and make it or try one of those that use the mixer or something.  Call me lazy at times.

I need to groom my dogs.  I have four Bouviers that do need it.  The two pups do not.  Although they are not pups any more.  They are ooops.....born close to Thanksgiving a couple years ago.  But I love them, cookie and Pumpkin.

Sweetners in milk?   Milk already has sugars in it.   Check the label.   I think it's a terrible idea too.   We love milk.   My kids and I drink it (skim) all the time.

I think it's terrible too, as Tracy said; it already has sugar (lactose) and the reason milk consumption is down is the price Money Mouth IMHO.  Yell

OMG Leave the milk alone.  Its a terrible idea.  I watch my nieces everyonce in a while and they've tell me they only drink chocolate or strawberry milk.  In  my house thats not a option,  if you don't drink plain 2%  your going to get water, now what one do you want plain milk or plain water.

No kidding, leave milk alone! Maybe it's time to get out own dairy cow...lol I agree with the PP that it's the price that is keeping people from drinking more. You can buy a 2 liter of soda for under a dollar, and at my local store a gallon of milk is $4.50!! Which hurts us, DH can drink a gallon a day, and now that I'm pregnant, I drink at least three big glasses a day.
