What are you planning for Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving is a little bit of a problem here, we generally do holidays at my daughter's house (where the children are, and with a proper dining table) and collaborate on the meal. But then she and her family have to go to the in-laws and have T-day again. Could you eat two Thanksgiving dinners in one day? Or even in two days?
We try to be creative with the midday meal, keeping it on the lighter side and trying to avoid leftovers. So it's not really traditional. That is the meal/gathering for my brother, my nephew, me, and my daughter's family. It might be shrimp, something oriental, or a Mexican meal. Or something from the grill, if Chris has scored a deer. Then when my daughter goes to the in-laws' house for supper, the turkey is welcome.
We are Southerners, so cornbread dressing is a staple thoughout the year and shows up on Sunday with chicken or roast pork. Moreso than with turkey!
My daughter likes to cook a lot of desserts and appetizers, which I find funny because nobody in the family cares much for desserts and appetizers. We like a MEAL to be a MEAL and then you are done. I"ve been getting her to re-think sweet potatoes too; they can be delish without being sweet. I'll re-post the scalloped au gratin sweet and Yukon potato recipe we did a couple of years ago...OMG, so good!

We've always done two dinners for Thanksgiving. My family always has their big dinner in the early afternoon and my husband's family has theirs in the evening. So we go to my family's for turkey and then to his for turkey, both big traditional meals in one day. Somehow, we always manage to be able to stuff ourselves at both!
My kids have to do two, as did I until I got divorced. The other family does ham. We do ham and turkey. We have always eaten at supper time. They always ate for lunch. So it works out.
Let me tell you I have a heckof a time logging in to ivillage any more. It is so frustrating to not be able to get in here. Well I'm off. To do what I don't know. hahahahahahahhaa
