Pix of DD's 8th birthday party!

We had DD's 8th birthday party yesterday afternoon and it was a big hit....well, except for the part where two of the girls got into a fight....but let's pretend that didn't happen!

I made her cake (from a box!) because I'm cheap. :smileytongue: I was aiming for purple frosting, but it turned out purplish-greyish instead.

Since the party was at 2pm, I just did snacks (fruit & veggies) instead of a meal. I also found this Easter candy for dirt cheap on clearance and the colors went well.

We had the girls paint canvas bags as an activity. Fun, but messy! They ran around playing, danced and had a lot of fun. We sent them home with flower pots, some potting soil and flower seeds instead of a traditional goody bag.

And for decorations, I finally tried the ruffled streamers I saw a long time ago on the blog MADE.

You just set your sewing machine tension high and they ruffle automatically as you sew them together. I love the way they turned out.

DD had a great time with her friends!

Hey Kellie it looks like you did great! Love the pics, no grey in the cake at all from here, just looks mauve. I am going to pass on the ruffled streamers idea to DD. They look great. How nice to have something 'good' to take home after the party rather than a bag of goodies to make a sugar high. Painting canvas bags does sound like fun but I have to agree, messy. I may not pass that one, thinking for three year olds chalk drawing outside might be a better choice, especially if I am involved with cleaning up. It looks like it was a really colourful party and so nice DD enjoyed it. Happy birthday to her from the other side of the world!
