Here are a few ideas for you..

Don't Gamble With Your Diet at the Super Bowl Party
Look for healthy foods at the Super Bowl party.

It's the end of January and you've been true to your New Year's diet and exercise resolutions. Your clothes are fitting nicely and healthy eating is becoming a comfortable habit. But, there's trouble ahead. That first big event of the year threatens to undo all your good work -- the Super Bowl party.

Don't worry. You can enjoy a Super Bowl party without risking your waistline. For starters, don't starve yourself the day of the party. That will just make it more likely that you'll overeat later on at the gathering. Have a small fiber-filled snack such as a piece of fruit or whole grain crackers before you head out. The odds of eating healthy will be in your favor if your stomach's not growling.

Here's a few SUPER tips for surviving the Super Bowl.

When you get to the party, take a look at all the goodies before you dig in. Look for foods that are more nutrient dense, like raw vegetables, shrimp, lean meats, salsa, guacamole, cheese, fruit, nuts and crackers.

You don't need to load up your plate, especially if you're likely to return for more. Just take a little bit and eat slowly.

Thank you! Any help is appreciated. dh and I are both on 1000 calorie diets and taht doesn't leave a lot of room for snacks. We have been really good however and resisted treats and are "saving" to splurdge some on bowl day.

Maybe a pot of chili? You could serve cheese, sour cream & other toppings to make it special. Buffalo wing dip made with fat free or low fat cream cheese? Shrimp is a great idea, naturally fat free & even the cocktail sauce is low cal!! Skinless baked chicken legs, rather than fried wings -- lots of sauce options. A meat fondue cooked in broth instead of oil & served with a light dipping sauce or two? Fajitas instead of enchiladas?
Just some suggestions...

Hi there, We have an article 15 Suggestions for a Healthy Superbowl Party that you might find helpful as well. There are some great tips there, like the chili that Jaielyn suggested.

Also, one of my favorite healthy substitutes for a high-fat food is sweet potato fries. Here's a recipe. They're satisfying and so easy to make. You can find additional recipes at http://www.ivillage.com/food. Just click on the "healthy" tab.

And if all else fails, you can always get up and dance at half time to work off any extra calories! :smileywink:
