1. Don't pre-rinse your dishes before loading.

Pre-rinsing can waste up to 20 gallons of water and cause your machine to clean less effectively. Today's detergents are designed to attack food particles, so if dishes are rinsed clean, the detergent may abrade glassware instead. Just scrape dishes of food scraps instead of rinsing.

I do *all of the above* out of habit and it fascinates me to see friends and family who rinse off everything before putting

Great tips to pass on. Thanks Susanne. I pretty much do all of those things. EXCEPT if I am tired my lead crystal glasses sometimes end up in there! Not great.

Oh wish I had that breakfast. I am hungry. DH called to say want to do anything, so I suggested a bite of lunch a bit late. Unfortunately don't think we are on the same wavelength. Nothing much is open apart from the pubs and he wants a big seafood meal. LOL Oh well guess we will do nothing and wait to cook dinner.

I use the dishwasher tablets too, expensive though they can be. I do have some of the powder just for soaking super dirty baking dishes and that works super great! that was another tip from Susanne that I am always appreciative of. It works for dirty bbq stuff too.

What in the world is going on. Trying to post again.
I am stealing those prawns. Love them but like you not a fan of all the peeling.
Not sure how many to get for Christmas. DS's GF does not eat seafood.

We all tend to over-use soap

Here's what you do at least once a month:

empty dishwasher - at cooking oil - I've even used ketchup - put on door and in the bottom - use rinse cycle - you will see soap - do it a few so all soap is eaten up - it works!!!

Most times I don't pre rinse and only use half the soap called for. Wow 5,000 gallons of water a year, never thought washing by hand used up so much!

Or once a month add a cup of vinegar and run through the cycle on empty. Even lemon juice will work.

Interesting tip. Thanks.

I use about half what they recommend when using my clothes washing machine too.
