$30 Jam?

I have fond memories of picking wild strawberries on the side of the road with my brother when I was little. We never got more than a tiny bowlful, but nothing in the world tasted better! I've been looking for the berries for years, but never find more than a handful, and every year I go on a quest to find wild strawberry jam, but without success. Until this weekend! I actually found a few sources. I was thrilled - until I saw the price. One was $30 for a small jar, and another was $15 for a small jar and $16 for shipping!

Would I be crazy to spend $30 for a little jar of jam? Is there any food you would spend a ridiculous amount of money for?

In a word...go for it. Ok more than a word lol. I would say if you buy it once and taste and it brings back all those memories then it is well worth the price. If not the same then just move on and don't buy again. They very occasionally have it here at the Farmers markets and it is more expensive. Will see if I can find out the price. Might not be there as the area it comes from is in the middle of a winter freeze so might have to wait till spring. If I have all the basics and I see something I really really want, especially from my childhood then I may try it once. This was the case with a particular caramel sauce from a restaurant that existed in my childhood. Now the closest I can come is making one but it is not plain caramel but peanut and caramel. I will keep searching. Oh I just realised I have some in the fridge. I guess ice cream bananas and the peanut caramel sauce is not a good option for morning tea! What do you think?...smile.

I would buy it just for the memories it brings back. A splurge every so often on yourselve isn't bad. Just hide it from the family lol so it'll last longer! Can't think of any food that pricey that I want but if I did I would probably splurge one a year for it!

LOL yes, we know how that is! Have something on hand you enjoy and don't hide it, it's gone before you get any!
