I stopped at the local bread outlet today to stock up, and picked up a couple of loaves of maple and brown sugar swirl bread.   My dh loves bread pudding and I thought this would be the perfect bread to use to make it.  Does anyone have a good recipe to share?

I've never made bread pudding so can't help with a recipe.  That bread you bought sounds really good!!

Yum, those do sound like great breads! I have an old recipe that was my mom's, and the only one I've ever made. Fill large casserole with bread torn into 1 inch pieces. Mix together 4 eggs, 2 cups milk, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp. nutmeg, and 3/4 cup sugar. Pour over bread. Bake at 375 for 30-45 minutes.

Misty is right on it!  I like to add a splash of vanilla, and some raisins and/or pecans.  I use brown sugar in mine, and my customers would have shot me if I didn't make the bourbon sauce to go over it.

1 cup sugar, 1 stick butter, 1 beaten egg, 2 tsp vanilla.  Heat in a saucepan over low heat until the sugar dissolves and it thickens.  Then off heat add 1/4 to 1 cup of bourbon, to your taste.

Oh, that sounds even better Karen. I might have to try my recipe tomorrow with brown sugar instead of white and a bit of vanilla. My oldest DD loves anything with cinnamon, and bread pudding is one of the only kinds of pudding she likes, but my younger DD does't like it at all...lol.
