Hello all, I'm back!

Just got our power/phones back last night, what a week. We had high winds and some rain but no flooding in our area. Lots of trees down and power lines, roads closed, school called off. First day of school was Monday but with power out and roads blocked they moved first day to next Tuesday. I think 11 roads in just our town are still closed off...In town they were lucky they didn't lose power, everyone outside of town did. My SIL lives in town so we did have a place to go to shower, thank goodness! Ran out of water quickly, I thought I'd have enough for a day or two and then power would be back on, not. Lost power early Sunday morning and only got it back last night and only because we're on the main line that Wal-mart and Stop&Shop run on. Go down the road about half mile from me and they're still out.

It hasn't been to bad, everyone kind of pitched in and helped where they could. We got pool water from dh's mom's pool for flushing and dh dropped a barrel off to our neighbor, he was running out. Dad let us use his small generator so we could run the fridge and not lose everything in the freezer. One neighbor let others take his generator so other could plug in and not lose what they had in freezers. Dh took it to a couple of the elderly and stayed while they used it and then brought it back to the owner

Boy are we pleased to see your smiling face. Reading your email and post made me think how wonderful in times of disaster that people get together to help one another out. That is a huge positive in such a negative situation. In your case you are really lucky to live so close to your family members. Maybe next time you grill you will do the rolls on there too. Really glad you are back and have power. HUGS

We have become hurricane saavy here-it's kind of an adventure-like going to the beach-we gather more supplies and equipment with each year! We have a generator to run an a/c window unit and the fridge-we have a propane stove I can cook on-so we camp in the living room, play games and cook!

It's great for a week, then it gets old!

Lo, are you going to be affected by the tropical storm heading for Louisiana? The news just said no big winds but heavy rain. Stay safe.

Pity about camping but better to get home cleaned up. Good luck with that.

Ahh, put off the other stuff and go camping. :-) Winter will be here before you know it and you won't be able to go camping. Glad you've got your power back. I think the longest I've ever been without power was about 24 hours. Kinda fun for a short time. We played cards by the oil lamp and llistened to a battery powered radio.

Didn't go camping, had to cut up the tree that fell at dads. Will make good fire wood for next year! Yes we played lots of cards/games while power was out. Strange having all home at the same time and playing cards, hasn't happened in a long time. Great family time when no power lol!
