Ds made veggie burgers the other night...He's wanted to try them for a couple of months and I finely picked up what he needed. He found the recipe on food network...Has black beans, barley and veggies. Not to bad but if I had a choice I'd still pick a regular burger over the veggie burger lol. He loved them, ate 2 even though he was getting stuffed lol.

Have you ever made veggie burgers or bought them in a store?

I want to try black bean burgers because I've heard they're really good. I do make these chick pea burgers on a regular basis~

They are phenomenal! I don't make the tahini sauce though. The first time I made them I had some of that Philadelphia Cooking Cream (the Santa Fe blend) in the house, so I put that on top. That really makes them great, IMHO.

Each time I make them I experiment with different seasonings. I also have started using Italian bread crumbs instead of the flour.

I've never made them and I doubt anyone in this house would eat them if I did, well maybe the dog would. *LOL* I have tried the store bought ones and I don't like them. Give me real meat or don't bother!

To me, they aren't a sub for burgers but they are OK-I kinda like the southwestern flavored one-made from black beans, etc. I kinda like southwestern eggrolls too-not,.the same thing as eggrolls, but enjoyable just the same!

I make some using chick peas. Kind of add whatever I have left in the fridge, grated carrot etc. I tend to prefer beef or chicken burgers.

Do try the tahini with them, totally yum. If not try mixing some mayo with some piri piri sauce for a kick with the chick peas.

Yes..they are in the freezer section of our grocery-they have several different flavors. I like kibbee also, which they serve in Greek-Lebanese restaurants here-they serve with cucumber/yogurt sauce. They are chickpea based and deep fried, but I am sure you could bake them.
