I have a new favourite 'green'......butter lettuce. Not something I used to buy but with its nice soft leaves lasts pretty well in a sandwich since it has no 'crunch' to lose like iceberg , and it is not bitter like some of the greens out there.

Butter lettuces are fairly easy and fast to grow too.  I love the butter lettuces.  Wonder why they call them that?

You've gotta love Google Susanne!   Thanks for this information.  Interesting.   I have seen butter lettuce over the years but have never bought it.   Thinking I just might next time especially with Suzi's tip too of it being good in sandwiches!

I've never tried butter lettuce, don't think I've seen it in the store either. Will have to check the farmers market tommorrow and see if they have it.

Thanks Linda, I was just thinking I might plant some next year but didn't know how well it grew. Nice to know that it's pretty easy to grow!
