Just wondering what is  season now that we can use in cooking..

Its Easter today and  I have  some asparagus  and brussel  for veggies
and a cabbage salad  plus the fruit  pineapples  cherry fruit salad.

plus the ham, mash potato and yams..  nice warm rolls also
A Meal fit for a King indeed..

* pie is  choc cream cheese   with whip cream on top,   in a real homemade crust..

NOT sure we will eat the pie tho   kinda full... My hubby has to work  at  9 ish  until  6am..

so  I will make him a simple sandwich..

THE  ASPARAGUS  WILL SOON BE IN SEASON HERE  BUT   WE JUST HAD SNOW A WEEK AGO..

RHUBARB   AND ASPARAGUS   PLUS   HORSERADISH    ARE THE FIRST IN SEASONS

Hi Wren - you're not far from me, I'm in NJ. Snow last week was crazy.  I'm waiting for seasonal foods as well!

I found this neat interactive map that shows what's in season in your state. http://www.epicurious.com/articlesguides/seasonalcooking/farmtotable/seasonalingredientmap

Looks like it's still just asparagus and spinach for me, lol.

I hope you had a nice Easter! We spent it at my sisters and my husband also went to work last night - he worked 10pm until 8am. He took food with him as well. We had ham, ziti, lamb (which I don't eat) and some other sides.

I have not seen any asparagus that was worth buying in recent weeks.  I bought fresh beets for Easter and made a fresh spinach salad with hot bacon dressing, as well as some baked beans and chow chow to go with ribs I smoked.  That was Saturday.  Sunday I kept it simple with steaks and mushrooms.  The tomatoes are looking better around here but not field grown yet.  Cantaloupe was on sale but it would be greenhouse grown too.
