Do you have a favorite winter recipe? Mine is from Peg Bracken's "I Hate to Cook Cookbook"
Peg Bracken's Stay A Bed Stew
Source : I Hate to Cook Cookbook
Servings : 6
2 pounds beef -- cubed
1 cup carrots -- sliced
2 onions -- chopped
1 teaspoon salt
dash white pepper
1 can Tomato soup
1/2 can water -- use soup can
2 medium potatoes -- sliced
1 bay leaf
Place all ingredients in casserole dish. Cover and bake at 275 degrees F for 5 hours. Serve. OR place in slow cooker and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours, or until done.
What foods do you crave on cold wintry days?

My ds loves hamburger, tomato juice and pasta (his faves are rotini or shells)...
We brown the hamburger (whatever you want it can be extra lean, lean, medium or regular)...you can use chicken, turkey or pork but he likes beef best...:) in a pan...usually frozen, add a little water.
I use a medium saucepan and boil the water for the pasta any kind works...strain the pasta cooked to your taste and add it to the browned hamburger or meat of your choice...we then add a can of tomato juice we prefer Heinz...(has the heart and stroke logo)...heat it up and serve.
Delicious!
He cannot get enough of it...;)...lol...
It's great on a cold, snowy, winter day...Add slice of bread or a bun...yummy!
You can save it reheat or even fry up if you want for the next day.
Unfortunately we never have any left over...lol...;)...
You can use any type of pasta and there is one to suit anyone!
You can also buy sodium reduced tomato juice from Heinz.
Whatever meat you or your family prefers or has on hand works...ground beef, chicken, pork, or turkey.
It's ALL GOOD!...
It's fast and easy and budget-friendly.
Hands down my favorite winter comfort food is chili garnished with shredded cheddar cheese. I make mine with Bob Evans original sausage, Brooks Mild Chili Beans, McCormic's mild chili seasoning, a can of diced tomatoes, and an onion.
This sounds terrible especially compared to all of your wonderful recipes but for some reason, I really crave Ramen noodles when it's cold. At least it's cheap, lol.
In our house, comfortable winter food is chili with shredded cheese and onions. Cornbread on the side ...just yummy!
I crave chili and cornbread as well! I love to put a little bit of shredded cheese as well as a spoonful of sour cream on top. YUM!
Oh that stew sounds so easy-peasy to make.
I was going to say that soups & stews are my favorite winter comfort foods.
